THE BAY

May 6th, 2008

The Chesapeake Bay is more than just the largest estuary in the United States.  It is a home to many and a living to even more.  Estuaries are amazing areas that are well stocked with much aquatic life thus they are ideal for the fishing industry.  However as of late the bay has been a victim to many forms of pollution.

  • Runoff of biologial waste
  • Dumping of chemical waste
  • Littering on the beaches

Ignorance can no longer be an excuse for causing damage to the environment.  Most people know there are consequences for their actions.  In spite of this knowledge people still pollute.  Call it laziness, selfishness, or indifference, but it affects everyone and is everyone’s problem now thanks to the few who just don’t care.  Everyone needs to do their part to make the Chesapeake and the world a better place.

Economy vs. Environment

May 6th, 2008

One point that most people do not realize is that you don’t have to choose between the environment and the economy.  When you help the environment, the economy will benefit.

See this video.

The “dead zone” in the Chesapeake can’t be helping the fishermen very much and as that zone spreads, what will happen the Maryland’s economy which is based on seafood from the bay?

Prayer Requests

May 5th, 2008

One way aid others or even yourself is through prayer. Jesus prayed for all of us even when he was persecuted by those of his time. Prayer is very powerful and just as it says in Matthew, “7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”Matthew 7:7-8

So don’t be afraid to ask for prayer God can handle all of our problems. One of my favorite songs states, “He said He can move mountains and if He can move mountains He can move my mountain He can move your mountain too.”

If you have any prayer request leave it on the comments and allow your Christian Community to pray also. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20

Just Talk

May 5th, 2008

This page is completely dedicated to just talk. I love to talk about Jesus and horses, I make people irritated I do this so much. So tell me about your horses or what God has done for you, I would love to hear.

I’ll start it off. On April 16, 2008 I preached my first sermon and it was awesome. My mom really was the one who got it started for me. It all began one night when going to eat and I started to talk about Jesus, again lol, but for some reason I wanted to do something with horses and God. So I told mom I wanted something like a prayer breakfast. Well she thought that was great, but I never thought it would go on till one day when I came home from school my mom said well you better get ready because I sponsored your prayer breakfast. It was scary but fun, I just thank Jesus for the opportunity and pray that His will was done.

In Rememberance of a Special Image

May 5th, 2008

“You never really miss someone until their dead or gone.”
Sitting here thinking about you, the soul and heart begins to get beaten to death because of losing someone special.
An aunt, grandmother, mother, father, but most importantly, a SISTER.
A hero born to lead but yet it’s hard to see that hero die while serving the needs of others.
A hero who has day in and day out saved not only me but others as well. I wish that person was still here to save the day.
The culmination of leaders and valuable products of many forms such as animals, superheroes, political leaders, gems, gold, etc.
A lion’s pride, the heart of gold, with the “S” on their chest like superman, the fighting spirit like Muhammad Ali and the kid like attitude towards certain aspects of life like a little rascal.
It’s sickening when looking at that picture in the newspaper and the internet under the deadly words Obituaries for the day.
Sitting here and missing that voice of reasoning, the philosophical mind of a genius, and a soul of a angel has tears falling out of millions of eyes.
Brown eyes, black hair, and a proud person of their background brings a smile and puts pride in thousands of hearts.
Not seeing you will not ever be the same.
The giggle you possessed, the toughness through the pain you possessed, it’s amazing to see that it’s been over ten years since the last day you basically lived your life.
As life passed by, ran into obstacles, you never managed to lose your “cool”.
You never seemed to let fate stop you.
Cool like a glacier, or an iceberg, or even the artic circle.
Stylish as a new hair- do, a new fad or anything that could bring the attention of others.
You felt as though you were rich as an emperor, king of the castle, on top of the world.
But ALAS, there’s more ways to continue that legacy.
More laughter, jokes, and smiles on the faces who have been touched.
The lion’s pride and roar in one who has been touched the most.
It’s now the turn on a new version of you, a reincarnation of you, the “S” is now on their chest as they come to save the day for tons of people associated.
Forever thought of, duplicated, never imitated, YOU, that special someone is in remembrance.
A mother, father, brother, especially a SISTER you are and always will be to those who know you or even have had some sort of contact with you.
God Bless YOU!!

A Valentine Poem…

May 5th, 2008

This is just something I thought of for Valentine’s Day. I know it’s late, but hey like they say it’s better late than not at all. Here goes…

Love.. The important meaningful word I’ve been wanting to say to you for so long.. WHen I hold you in my arms tight it feels so right in our minds.. All the kindness I have for you surpasses my mindless state.. Making me feel unconcious when I see, feel, touch, and even taste the very essence that is you..
Making you pour, not in tears, but pour with love as I take ya hand and walk into the evening sun. Loving you with so much passion.. Passion that is stronger than me lifting and putting world on my shoulders.. You being the leader at times guiding me to ya heart.. the CEO, President, QB, el capitan..
You hold my hands like I’m in handcuffs.. Take me to jail and put me in the cell that is your heart and throw away the key…
As I hold you thorugh the nite, I make you warm inside and out.. Make you hot as if you in an oven.. Not sexually but mentally and spiritually as I ignite the burning flame deep inside you… I go to other levels of love and will overflow you.. Can you handle it my capitan? My officer of the law?
Our law… Our being… Our love…
As I massage you and soothe the pain inside of you from all obscurities in the world from evil, to school, sports, and any other thing that could be destroying this beautiful person I have sitting in front of me right now..
Let’s make this one last a lifetime.. Just like the smile I see from ya glowing face..!!

Hmong Genocide

May 5th, 2008

Genocide has been going on since the beginning of time. One question I often ask myself and others is if it has happened so many times one would think that people would do something to stop it because of the negative outcome. Never the less, there have been records of numerous genocide taking place. To list a few tragic events, the Bible mentions genocide since the Old and New Testament, Khmer Rouge, Darfur and the Holocaust. While genocide has ended for some people, unfortunately Hmong genocide is still taking place.

It started when the CIA found some tribe in the mountain tops of Laos during the Vietnam War. They needed people who knew the land to block off the entrance going to Vietnam through Laos. They convinced and recruited 30,000 Hmong men to help the United States fight the war which at the time was known as the secret war in Laos. The promise they offered was to go to America. “The Hmong people fought at our request with incredible bravery and tenacity, greatly slowing the advance of the North Vietnamese into Laos and South Vietnam. Their fighter pilots, some of the most dazzling aces ever, fought until they died in a desperate war with inadequate support. They sacrificed thousands of their lives in deadly missions that ultimately saved thousands of American lives”(Lindsay).

After the United States left the battle grounds of Vietnam, The Hmong’s were left to defend themselves from the communist Vietnamese and Laos who were seeking revenge. “While serving in special guerrilla units during the Vietnam War, between 10,000 and 20,000 Hmong men, women and children were killed, and more than 100,000 fled to Thai refugee camps”(Lindsay). The promise of Hmong people coming to the United States was partially granted, there are thousands of Hmong people in the United States now, who escaped and fled from Laos. There are about 27,000 Hmong in Minnesota, and an estimated 5,000 to 7,000 of them fought in the CIA’s Special Forces (Lindsay).

Sadly, there are still thousands of Hmong people who could not escape and/or were capture by the communist North Vietnam and Laos. After the Americans left Vietnam, the Vietnamese and Laotians have been hunting down Hmong who helped the Americans, killing, torturing, capturing and raping the women. “Refugees from the conflict claim they have given up the fight and are simply trying to survive inside the Xaysomboun Special Zone, a mountainous area sealed off by the Laotian military.”(Levett) Reports have shown that the majority of the Hmong who are still in the jungle are women and children. These people are on a constant move; they barely have any food, clothing, shelter and little protection. These people are suffering from malnutrition, limited medicine, contaminated water, and etc. They are forced to watch their friends and family depleting from them as they run for their lives leaving them hopeless and scared.

For a long time, people did not believe that Hmong Genocide was happening because there was not enough evidence to prove Hmong Genocide. Two years ago there was a new documentary of genocide about the Hmong ethic minority group in Laos. The documentary film Hunted Like Animals by Rebecca Sommer showed “survivors of military attacks on the Hmong and shocking images of brutalized children”(Levett). It is not just the children that they are after; there were reports of women and children being captured and forced into a life of sexual slavery where they are repeatedly raped by countless Lao soldiers. After all these evidence has been provided the CIA still is not doing anything about the situation at hand.

There has been more evidence of what the Hmong are dealing and suffering with. “Evidence came in of the chemical and biological warfare that was used against the Hmong, our State Department ignored the situation and for years refused to even list Laos in reports monitoring human rights problems of other nations. The press and the State Department ignored the victims, their chemical wounds, their chemical samples and the chemical analyses of deadly man-made toxins and biological agents, pointing instead to ludicrous theories of bee pollen as explanations for the “yellow rain” that was killing thousands.” “The Laos Government has targeted the Hmong for more than 30 years because in the 1960s they fought with the CIA against the Communists”(Lindsay). All of this evidence is coming in, proof that Genocide is happening and the Hmong ethic minority group in Laos is suffering and dying, but the CIA is not doing anything about it.

The CIA had offered half promises; some got to come to the United States while others are still in Laos fighting for their lives. Before, the CIA said there was not enough proof that Genocide was happening to the Hmong. With more than enough evidence now, what has the CIA done about it? “The tragic suffering of the Hmong is ultimately our responsibility, for we got them into war against our enemies, trained them, urged them to fight, then broke our promises to them as we pulled out without doing anything to protect them against the terrible revenge that has been sought.” (Lindsay) Will the Hmong people continue to be hunted down until none is left?
